Mission: Echos on the Deck
Location: Brig
Timeline: Takes Place After 'Solutions'

After the staff meeting, Captain Greene decided that it was time to greet the Nausicaans currently sitting in the brig. Alongside him was Alexa Truman. Other than starting a brawl, there was nothing that warranted them being in their custody indefinitely. Entering the brig, two approached the armory staff that was currently on duty. "Please, give us some alone time with the prisoner," the Captain spoke.

"Yes, Captain," both men spoke simultaneously before exiting the room.

Stepping to the cell door, the Chief Petty Officer banged on the door to wake the three men up. "On your feet."

All the Nausicaans stood and approached the cell door. By the looks of their faces, they weren't particularly fond of the armory officer. The tallest of the group was in the front. "So, this is the Captain."

"Yes, this is the Captain," Greene spoke. "Captain Maddox Greene and it appears you gentlemen have gotten yourselves in some trouble. Assault charges and property damage. And to add to these charges, a comrade who will likely never walk again."

The three men looked at each other, clearly in shock by the news. It was obvious that they had no idea, how basd things were for the fourth man in their group. One of the men who stood behind the tallest whispered in his ear. Simply nodding, he focused his attention back on the Greene. "He was bold, but his actions against the security officer were foolish."

Looking down at the PADD that he brought with him, the Commanding returned his gaze to the tallest one. " Akeet Loerme, you are the other leader of this group. Therefore, he was under your command correct?"

"That is correct," Loerme answered.

"When the brawl broke out you, weren't a part of it initially according to reports. But you joined in the fighting a minute or so into it. It never occurred for you to help break up the fight? It would have kept you from being in this cell."

The leader simply smirked. "What kind of leader would I be not to fight alongside my people? Their fate will be mine as well."

The Starfleet Captain came with a smirk of his own. "As a leader I can respect the sentiment of standing by your people and joining that fact. But now I find myself wondering what to do with you all."

"What do you have in mind? The Federation isn't in the business of killing and harsh labor."

"There's a ship on its way to recover your people with High Fang Kragh Torvax," Maddox mentioned. "But outside of Mister Vaul, who is likely not going to be around for too much longer due to your people's customs. I don't foresee myself releasing the rest of you."

All three Nausicaans were clearly in shock and once again found themselves whispering among themselves. The two subordinates had become upset with each other and began shoving one another. Akeet stood between them and began hitting and pushing the two men in opposite directions. After gaining some semblance of control within his group, he returned his attention to the Captain. "Is there something that can be worked out?"

"Is this a bribe?"

"No bribe, Captain. But there has to be something you want for our freedom."

Alexa was curious about the entire interaction. This group seemed to be a bit unraveled. Nausicaans weren't exactly a disciplined group, but never had she seen them panic. Looking over at her commanding officer, she wondered what the next move would be.

Looking Loerme up and down, Maddox grinned. "Are you a man of your word?"

Raising a curious eyebrow, the leader wondered where this was going himself. "I would like to think so."

"To get to the point," the Captain continued. "The Federation is trying to establish a presence out here. Contrary to popular believe, we're here to take over. But bring stability to this region. I could use a friend, if you know what I mean."

Loerme couldn't help but laugh. "Me, a friend of a Starfleet Captain. Didn't think, I would wake up hearing that."

Maddox nodded with a smile. "Perhaps friends was a little strong, but an associate. I've been doing some research, and you all are traders. A little rough around the edges, but for the most part. No piracy or harming anyone. Someone like yourself, I can work with."

"Working with you for a reduced sentence?"

"Think about it. Working to help smooth things out through this transition. Just imagine, setting a shining example for your people. But you don't have to give me an answer now. Take the time to think about the offer." Looking over to the Chief Petty Officer, Greene nodded, indicating it was time to leave. Stepping away, to the exit the armory officer followed suit. The guards who originally was there returned to their posting.

"Captain, are you really interested in working with the Nausicaans?" Truman inquired.

"Yes, I am," the Captain answered. "The Nausicaans are not an easy group to work with. Some sort of beneficial relationship could work in our favor."

Thinking about it, she shrugged. "I can see your point. Just not sure if they're capable of playing well with others."

"Well, there's one way to find out."
