| Personal History | Maddox Greene was born in the Dominican Republic on Earth. His childhood was normal being, raised in a two-parent household and the youngest of two sons. His father was the Chief of Police in Santo Domingo. This strongly influenced his views on law and order. But for as long as Maddox could remember, he longed to become a part of Starfleet. Throughout his childhood, he participated in various sports but wrestling was the top one that he excelled in. Upon graduating from High School, Greene was accepted into the Academy where he studied to become an Armory Officer. While in the Academy, the Cadet joined the wrestling team where he participated in for the next four years. Things went well during his time at the Academy, until the end of his senior year on March 22, 2153, when Earth was attacked by a probe which was determined to be a preemptive strike by the Xindi. Though the Dominican Republic wasn't affected by the attack, Cadet Greene couldn't help but be concerned about just how close and easily his own family could have been killed. After graduation, Ensign Maddox Greene was assigned to the USS Marshall, an Intrepid class. Due to the loss of a Klingon ship while pursuing a the Enterprise into the expanse. The Marshall, along with several other ships, was placed on high alert and assigned to patrol near Klingon space to deter possible retaliation. It was during this time that Maddox couldn't understand why their so-called allies, the Vulcans, never lifted a finger to assist Earth in its time of need. Over the next two years, Greene continued to serve and impress the Chief Armory Officer, which earned him a promotion to Ltjg. It was also during this time that Earth-Romulan War began. The crew of the USS Marshall was involved in the Battle of Alpha Centauri at the beginning of the Earth-Romulan War in 2155. Unprepared for the Romulan tactics, they lost 13 personnel that day. In 2157, during an away team against a Romulan weapons depot, the Chief Armory Officer was killed. The Captain promoted Greene to Lieutenant and assigned him as the Chief Armory Officer. As the war raged on, like many others who saw combat, Maddox hardened and trained his people hard. The last thing he wanted to experience was another loss, even though he learned that in war, loss was unavoidable. In 2160, Maddox and the crew of the Marshall found themselves engaged in the Battle of Sol against the Romulan Empire and followed by the Battle of Cheron that saw the end of the Earth-Romulan War with the allies claiming a divisive victory. In 2161, United Earth, Vulcan, Andor, Tellar and Alpha Centuri would go to form the United Federation of Planets. After the war, the USS Marshall was in serious need of being refitted in the shipyard. After spending time visiting family in the Dominican Republic, Maddox accepted an offer as the Head of Diplomatic Security on Terra Nova. This position entailed a promotion to Lt. Commander. Over the next three years, Greene observed how the diplomats he was assigned to protect conducted themselves and was able to bring people together through discussions. Though at times, these talks were long and in some cases the issues were never truly resolved. He learned that this was a skill that he wished to work on to become a better officer. Towards the end of his assignment, Maddox wondered what his next move was going to be. The steps were already taken, and he suggested that he accepted a nonconventional assignment by participating in Starfleet's attempt to integrate crews. In 2164, Lt. Commander Greene was accepted to serve as Executive Officer on the Andorian warship, USS Lo'Vorn. This was under the command of Captain Heliup th'Illan who like himself was a veteran of the Earth-Romulan War. The USS Lo'Vorn was assigned to border patrol for the Federation, a division under the Andorian Empire. Being the only Human on the ship, Maddox found himself having to adjust to their ways of doing things to earn their respect. But he also made it a point to do things in a Human way so the crew could benefit from his knowledge and experience. Over the next four years, Maddox demonstrated that integration was possible and could be pretty successful. His previous assignment helped him learn how to speak with people and assess their needs in ways that went beyond his security experience. Captain th'llan saw Green as a valuable asset in this manner. Over the last eight years since the end. Earth and Vulcan have returned to what was once considered the Delphic Expanse and have conducted scientific research there. Contact with the Xindi was nonexistent until four years ago, when a Nausicaan vessel had a run-in with a Xindi Primate crew. This resulted in a request to Starfleet for assistance from the primate vessel, which ultimately prevented a very likely war in this region of space. That encounter led Starfleet Command to discuss further exploration and to push for a stronger Federation presence in this area. Three years ago, the brass agreed to build a station between the worlds in this area to maintain a certain level of diplomacy, trade, control, and, importantly, border control. Many officers applied to serve at the brand-new station. But Commander Greene's reputation and experience made him a top choice for the position. |
